Aug 04, 2020 What Is Dungeons and Dragons? Dungeons and Dragons first appeared in 1974 as a sort of board game. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson took the medieval pen and paper war games concept that was popular at the time and added a fantasy twist. Instead of traditional soldiers and armies battling it out, fantasy settings and creatures were inserted.

Dungeons & Dragons Online (abbreviated as DDO), originally titled Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach and later Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited, is a massively multiplayer onlineRole-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Turbine. Turbine developed DDO as an online adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons (abbreviated as D&D) based loosely on the D&D 3.5 Ruleset. It is set in the Eberron and the Forgotten Realms campaign settings. Internet access is required to play.

DDO is a fantasy action role-playing game. Progression is defined by completing quests and leveling up. After creating an avatar on the character selection screen, players are required to go through a tutorial, which may be skipped after completing once. Players receive quests from non-player characters. After accumulating enough experience points through quests, the character is entitled to gain a level, which grants access to more feats, spells and skills. There are currently sixteen levels in the game. Each module has added new quests and areas to explore.
